The Ministry of Labor announced a status regularization period for non-Jordanian workers on Wednesday, 14 October 2026. This initiative aims to address the legal status of individuals currently employed within the Kingdom without the required documentation. By formalizing these employment arrangements, the Ministry of Labor seeks to bring a significant portion of the workforce into compliance with national labor laws.

The program applies to non-Jordanian workers who entered Jordan for purposes such as tourism, medical treatment, or education and are currently working without permits. These individuals may now formalize their employment status under the new government guidelines. Officials have not specified an end date for the regularization process, but the policy is effective immediately for those meeting the residency criteria. The Ministry of Labor has emphasized that this window is intended to provide a clear path for workers to transition from an undocumented status to a fully authorized legal standing.

Regularization Period and Eligibility

The regularization period for non-Jordanian workers remains open until 1 December 2026. This window allows laborers to resolve their legal standing with the Ministry of Labor before the deadline. The Ministry of Labor has confirmed that the final date for all submissions under this specific directive is December 1, 2026.

Domestic workers who have never previously obtained work permits qualify for this program. The government initiative extends to these individuals to ensure their employment status aligns with national regulations. By including this specific demographic, the Ministry of Labor aims to capture a wide range of laborers who have been operating outside of the formal permit system. This inclusion is a central component of the broader effort to organize the labor market within the Kingdom.

Eligible workers must pay a one-time fee of JD500 to settle their status. This payment covers all previous years the individual spent in Jordan without documentation. According to the Ministry of Labor, the JD500 fee is a full charge designed to account for the entire duration of time that the worker has resided and worked in the Kingdom without the necessary permits.

The Ministry of Labor expects that this financial requirement will allow for a streamlined administrative process. Once the payment of JD500 is completed, the worker’s file will be updated to reflect their new legal status. This regularization process is strictly limited to the specified categories of non-Jordanian workers who entered the country for tourism, medical treatment, or education, as well as domestic workers who have not previously held a permit. The Ministry of Labor encourages all qualifying individuals to utilize the time remaining until 1 December 2026 to finalize their documentation and ensure they are compliant with the requirements set forth by the government. Failure to address these requirements within the designated period may result in continued lack of legal status for the affected workers.
