The Arab League convened an extraordinary session at the ambassadorial level in Cairo on 13 October 2026. Member states gathered to address urgent matters regarding the protection of Palestinians. Palestine requested the session to discuss the current situation, securing formal support from Jordan and other member states. Representatives met to evaluate regional stability and deliberate on formal responses to ongoing developments. The assembly focused on diplomatic measures to ensure the safety of the population.

Jordanian Stance on Sovereignty

Amjad Adaileh, Jordan’s permanent representative to the Arab League, led the Jordanian delegation during the session. Representing his government, Amjad Adaileh emphasized the state's official position regarding the conflict. He declared, "Jordan's rejection of all illegal Israeli measures seeking to force the displacement of Palestinians, practice ethnic cleansing, and liquidate the Palestinian cause."

Jordan maintains support for the Palestinian right to establish an independent state along the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem serving as its capital. Addressing the assembled representatives, Amjad Adaileh called for a unified approach to the ongoing crisis. He articulated, "The necessity of translating international opposition into practical steps that protect civilians and halt unilateral actions." His remarks focused on the preservation of sovereignty and the protection of the population, framing these objectives as essential requirements for regional stability. The delegation from Jordan continued to advocate for these parameters throughout the formal proceedings held in Cairo.

Systematic Policies Against Palestinians

Faed Mustafa, the Assistant Secretary-General for Palestine and Occupied Arab Territories, addressed the assembly regarding the strategic impact of current events. During his statement, he characterized the ongoing developments as deliberate efforts to reshape the region. Faed Mustafa asserted, "Actions against Palestinians are part of a systematic policy designed to alter demographic realities, expand colonization, and undermine the two-state solution." His assessment focused on the long-term implications of these measures for the viability of a future independent state.

Muhanad Aklouk, the Palestinian Permanent Representative to the Arab League, presented further proposals to the delegates gathered in Cairo. He advocated for concrete international intervention as a means to address the situation. Muhanad Aklouk "Urged the international community to impose sanctions and boycott Israel to end the occupation." His remarks emphasized the need for external pressure to influence the current trajectory of the conflict. The representatives evaluated these arguments as part of the broader deliberation on diplomatic responses to the crisis.
